Gucci doesn't know meaning of Recession

In this hard times Gucci CEO Patrizio Di Marco certainly isn't thinking about scaling back, he recently said In a Reuters article; "Look at a country like China. To have 28 stores, or to think of having 40 stores, is not excessive at all." What's 28 stores compared to 50 stores in Japan and roughly 70 in Europe? Gucci is now focusing on opening 2 - 4 more stores by the end of the year and to continue until they've reached their goal which is to open 40 stores in China. Gucci's leather goods sales have continued to rise; sales of Gucci-branded products in China, Hong Kong and Macao went up 41.5 percent in 2008 and Gucci is hoping that Chinese consumers will be the new engine to power the luxury market.Recent reports predict China and Brazil to become the world leaders of luxury
